As we continue to implement improvements with every new generation of Sherlock, UIT Networking is working to improve Stanford’s core network. The SRCF data center switches are being replaced with much-improved hardware, and Sherlock’s connections need to be migrated to those new switches.
We’ll use that opportunity to also perform various maintenance operations that we unfortunately can’t carry out while the system is running. During this time, you will be unable to access the system. The scheduler queue will be preserved and queued jobs will begin running once the machine has returned to service. Jobs that can’t terminate before the maintenance starts will be delayed until after it ends.
